Weight Control & Healthy Eating
For many of us, the relationship between food, drink and exercise has less to do with feeling hungry or full, or dietary, health or lifestyle choices, and instead is often more indicative of other aspects of our lives.
Even though we may not consider ourselves to have obvious issues connected to these areas, a number of physical and emotional factors can often result in problems around eating and weight, including:
1. Poor body image
2. Stress
3. Lifestyle
4. Reluctance to show feelings
5. Low self-esteem
6. Poor assertion
7. Habit
8. Faulty food scripts originating from early childhood
For many people, whilst dieting helps weight loss in the short term, the results are unsustainable and the weight inevitably creeps back on. This is because dieting does not - and cannot - address the underlying subconscious impulse.
Results consistently show that it is the people who successfully manage to change the role that food plays in their lives who are able to control their long term weight.
How can we help?
At Pinnacle Therapy, all our therapists have been professionally accredited by the National Centre for Eating Disorders. We use a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and hypnotherapy to focus upon the following:
- 1. Exploring the emotional reasons and triggers for overeating
2. Strengthening motivation for change
3. Finding suitable weight control/eating strategies
4. Teaching the lifelong skills to commit to permanent change
The insights gained from these processes allow us to help you to move forward by developing new habits and beliefs, and equipping you with the strategies and mindset that will help you let go of the bad habits and false beliefs that have made it so difficult for you to manage your weight successfully in the past.
